Shinigami: The Awakening Custom
Genesis

In 2023, I was contacted by a Chinese collector who was building a curated series based on the Shinigami: The Awakening figure by Wetworks x ClogTwo. He selected twelve artists he admired and commissioned each of us to reinterpret one sign of the Chinese zodiac. My assignment was the Horse.

I also created an illustration to accompany the final piece, delivered as part of the commission.
Process

The base figure was cast in resin, which required a more careful approach than polymer clay, but it was still a satisfying surface to work with. I redesigned the character through the mask, reshaping it into a stylised horse while keeping the proportions of the original Shinigami.
Outcome
​
The figure and its accompanying illustration were shipped to the collector, who was very pleased with the result. It was an inspiring exercise to adapt my style to an existing platform while keeping the character cohesive and readable within the broader zodiac collection.
