Stay Sweet
Stay Puft Marshmallow Man

Genesis

I found this piece while walking through a toy store during the Christmas season. The sculpt of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man was surprisingly solid, well-proportioned, clean volumes, and far more elegant than a standard toy. The moment I saw it, I imagined what it would look like “cut open” the way I used to approach my zombie pieces, but translated into the world of sweets.
Process

Because the toy was made of vinyl, modifying it was straightforward and enjoyable. I opened several sections of the figure following the same logic I apply to my zombie work, but replaced organic anatomy with textures inspired by marshmallows.

The contrast between the soft, friendly shape of the character, the exposed candy interiors, and the texture I gave to its surface in the painting process, made the piece a sense of being edible.
Outcome

This was a self-initiated project, made simply because the base figure inspired me and the concept felt fun to explore. It became a light, satisfying intervention that allowed me to play with material illusion and reinterpret an iconic character through my own visual language.

In 2021, it was part of ExpoToys Barcelona, an international Art Toys show presented by Zona Toys and Vuitbits.
