About

Hello, I’m Luaiso Lopez.

I'm a sculptor, illustrator and designer working across Art Toys, sculptural objects and character-driven work.

My practice usually starts with ideas or reflections I consider worth translating into physical form, often triggered by objects, personal experiences or specific cultural factors.

From there, a strong mental visualization appears early on, followed by the need to materialize it through sculpture. The decisions that shape that process are based on my visual criteria, defined by aesthetics, composition, context, purpose and intent.

My work is very methodical and phased. I prioritize sculptural standards and clarity of direction but with room for improvisation and sudden inspiration. I adapt style and shape language when it strengthens a project as a whole, but I do not compromise the finish of a piece or the coherence of an artwork.

What I do is deeply connected to popular culture. I use references constantly, either explicitly or in certain aesthetic decisions, not just as decoration but as material to be resignified, highlighted or transformed.

In collaborations, I see them as a space of balance. I value shared vision and alignment, and I remain open to dialogue and redesign when it improves the work. At the same time, I do not operate as a technical executor, but as an artist who brings judgment and intention into a project.

Whether working on a unique piece or a limited edition, the outcome is always a clearly defined piece built through detailed craftsmanship. For me, every step of the process is essential in making an object feel alive through form, finish and presence.
